b. 1954 in the Sintautai village, Sakiai district, Lithuania Graduated from the Vilnius Technical School No 47 specialising in photography. For ten years worked as a photographer in Sakiai. Since 1985 member of the Union of the Lithuanian Art Photographers. In 1997 the International Federation of Art Photography (FIAP) conferred on him the name of Photoartist (AFIAP). In 2000-2001 and 2003-2004 received state grant from the Ministry of Culture of the Lithuanian Republic. In July 2009, Viksraitis won the prestigious Discovery Award at the Arles photography festival, having been nominated by Martin Parr. |
